Hari Raya Aidilfitri is when Muslims from around the world who have practiced abstinence mark the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadhan.
Hari Raya Aidilfitri (also known in Malaysia as Hari Raya Puasa, literally “Celebration Day of Fasting“) is the Malay term for the Muslim Festival of Eid ul Fitr.
This year, like the previous years, my family and I went back to my parents house in Shah Alam to joint my sisters and their family to celebrate and seek forgiveness in the true spirit of Aidilfitri as for Aidilfitri is a time to reconcile and renew relationships with others…
Though we arrive very late this year, the joy of meeting my parents and family during Aidilfitri is second to none…….

Tarawih / Taraweeh Prayers in Malaysia

Tarawih Prayer is a special evening prayer performed by Muslims throughout the world only in the holy month of Ramadhan during which long portions of the Qur’an are recited. Ramadhan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is the month where all Muslims fast (”puasa” in Malay) from sunrise to sunset every day.
Performing Tarawih prayer is a “sunnah” ( which means the prayer is voluntary however Muslims are strongly encouraged to do it as it is a practice by Prophet Muhammad s.a.w) and it is not obligatory.
Tarawih / Taraweeh is perform after `Isha’ Prayer (Night Prayer). It can be perform at home, alone or in congregation, or at a mosque. However the normal practice here in

Ramadhan Bazaar in Langkawi - Pasar Ramadan

The month-long, delightful Food Carnival and Extravaganza is back. With the start of Ramadhan here in Malaysia today, you can find stalls selling varieties of mouth-watering food and drinks for the breaking of fast everywhere in Langkawi from today right up to 30th. September. It is known as the Ramadhan Bazzar or “Pasar Ramadan” in Malay. The bazaars normally will be open from 4pm and closes at about 7.15pm ( right before the breaking of fast).
The month of Ramadhan is the ninth month in the Islamic lunar calendar, and is a month where Muslims must fast (”puasa” in Malay) from sunrise till sunset.
It is a month for spiritual reflection, prayers, and essentially training the body and mind to be a good, righteous, complete and perfect Muslim.
Fasting is not only forgoing food and drink from sunrise till sunset, but also “fasting” of the mind from unhealthy thoughts, the mouth from uttering bad words, the ears from listening untrue gossips about others, and the eyes from looking at prohibited matters.

Langkawi Clean Project

Recently, on 21st. August the Langkawi community from different areas get together to clean up Pantai Cenang beach. The Langkawi Clean Project which were supported by the Langkawi Tourism Action Council were initiated by a group of consurned people in Langkawi who just wanted Langkawi to maintain its charmed as a tropical paradised island.
Volunteers participated for this clean up project including expatriates living in this island, locals, business owners and staff from the local authority.

Langkawi Beach Wedding of Paula and Ricardo

Paula and Ricardo had a simple but lovely wedding on the white sandy beach of The Datai Langkawi yesterday. This loving couple from Portugal had their blessing done by Mr.Adam, witness by the management and staff of The Datai. The ceremony began slightly after 6.45pm with both the bride and groom walking to the beach.
The weather were just perfect as the ceremony went on smoothly. Soon after the ceremony Ana and I took the lovely bride and groom along the wonderful beach of Datai for some portrait photographs. The sunset and after glow of the sunset were just stunning as the amazing orange colours mix with some blue and red lights the sky.
After the portrait photo session by the beach, the couple were entertained by a local Malay traditional culture performances. They then lead the couple to their beautiful beach dining tent.
Again, Ana and I had a really wonderful and enjoyable evening as both of us left smiling as we had witness another wonderful couple getting married and with such an amazing colours lighting the evening sky.

Flash Photography Techniques – Ambient Light plus Flash

With careful use of flash, you can make your photo looks natural as though no flash had been used, instate it will enhance the photo further reducing contrast and yet looking very natural.
It as been a dream of all photographers to look for the balance in lighting whenever they photograph a subject and most of the time the quality of available light isn’t always perfect. I will share my experience in making use of flash wisely I am able to enhance my photo rather than by just using the available ambient light.
Before we get started let me clarify a few things with regards to my flash photography techniques that I will be sharing with you.

Chefs Association of Langkawi Annual General Meeting

The 2nd Annual General Meeting of the Chefs Association Langkawi, Kedah was held here recently at the Meritus Pelangi Beach Resort & Spa in Pantai Cenang, Langkawi.
About 125 people consist of members and suppliers round Langkawi turn out at the meeting which was later followed by more then 65 lucky draws presentation and dinner.

Langkawi Wedding of Archana and Richard

Archana and Richard both from England had their wedding here at the Four Seasons Resort Langkawi yesterday. Our day starts at the registration office in Kuah. The registration were held at around 11.30am in LADA Complex, attended by both their parents together with Richard’s sister and brother in law.

Four Seasons Langkawi Staff Party - 2008

Four Seasons Langkawi Resort had their 4th. annual staff party recently at The Bayview Hotel Grand Ballroom. With this year’s team - Bollywood Vs. Hollywood the resort’s staff and management came dressed up.
Lifely performances by both the management and staff trilled all in the ballroom. The highlight of the night were the Best Employee and Best Manager of the year (2007) award presentation.

The Andaman Langkawi Staff Party 2008

The Andaman Resort Langkawi had their annual staff party over two days on 11th and 12th. June at Berjaya Beach and Spa Resort’s Grand Ball Room.
Themed The Arabian Nite, the management and staff came in full forced and dresses up over the two glories nights.
All were entertained and trilled by individuals and departments performances throughout the two nights.
The highlight of the night were the 10 years service award presented by its General Manager.

Four Seasons Resorts Walk for Life 2008

Four Seasons Resorts Langkawi today successfully organize this annual fundraiser event.
This event is organized to raise fund for early detection and treatment of cancer in Malaysia. Four Seasons Walk for Life began as the Terry Fox Run to commemorate the life of a courageous young man who was diagnosed with bone cancer and ran across Canada to raise funds for cancer research.
This year event was held at the LADA building’s open parking space in Kuah. It began with an Aerobic warm-up at 7.30am followed by the race half an hour later.
Stalls selling T.shirts, souvenirs, photographs, drinks and foods adds to the fun. Everyone seems to have a great time and enjoyed the great food, entertainment and prizes.
