11th July 2009 - The Andaman Langkawi, Malaysia
After many months of planning, hundreds of phone calls and a ton of
emails, our day was finally here - Art and Sabrina’s wedding at the
Andaman.
It was a day filled with excitement and anticipation as the
hours of planning is now past and we leave the rest to lady luck. Our
greatest apprehension lay with the weather as a thunderstorm brewed
just hours ahead of our wedding. What was meant to be a beach wedding
will have to be moved indoors, but hey that’s life! It is believed by
the Chinese that rain brings good fortunes, and we had it by the
bucket full!
Our day started off with the traditional tea ceremony - serving tea to
our parents and elders as a gesture of respect. Parents and siblings,
aunts and uncles from all over the world arrived at this little remote
corner on the island of Langkawi. It was great to have the chance to
catch up with everyone - it wasn’t just a wedding but a reunion of
friends and family.
After the tea ceremony was over with, we proceeded to the main
ceremony where our pastor blessed our wedding. Set on a varenda facing
the lush green of the 50 million year old rain forest, with a cool
gentle breeze and rain pouring outside, we said our vows and made our
promises…..
….. then when the formalities was all over.. it was time to party!
Pictures do speak a thousand words and the photos we have of the day
will remain with us for a long time to come. Thank you all again for
coming and it was an honour and privilege to have shared this joyous
day with you!
Love
A & S
